Special guided tour ‘Open house. One Hundred Year of a Mosque in Berlin’
28 February 2025
Dear friends of the Museum for Islamic Art,
The mosque of the Ahmadiyya community in Brienner Straße in Berlin-Wilmersdorf is celebrating its 100th anniversary. It is the oldest mosque still in existence in Germany and is still used by the community. The exhibition ‘Open house. One Hundred Year of a Mosque in Berlin’ organised by the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf Museum (Villa Oppenheim) and the Ahmadiyya Lahore community, recalls the history of this mosque and the story of those who built up what soon became a thriving community. Documents from the community administration, missionary writings and many photographs are shown in the exhibition. Memorabilia from other private family archives emphasise the special significance of the mosque in the lives of many Berliners.
Programme
We would like to invite you to visit the exhibition and the mosque on Friday, 28 February 2025.
